Before Divorce
“The earlier your planning begins, the better the outcome.”
There are few areas where planning does not significantly improve the result. Financial Planning for divorce is no exception. The earlier we can discuss the issues and identify the challenges, the less stressful the process becomes.
Divorce planners seek to guide their clients through the entire process. Common issues include:
- Is there any way I could keep the family home, if I receive 50 / 55 / 60 / 65 / 70% of the assets?
- Do I need to go out and get a job, or take on more hours in order to have enough to live on?
- How do I know what my spouse’s position might be if I ask for X or Y or Z?
The process is outside and in addition to the services of your lawyers. We do not advise what financial assets you should or will get, but we do work through scenarios and the implications of each possible outcome. This can assist your lawyer in their submissions to the courts.
Our Pre-Divorce service does not aim to settle on an investment strategy in the familiar financial planning way, more to devise a more general financial strategy to begin the re-building process.
